Laws and red tape.

It is always interesting to watch red tape do what it is designed to do in the first place. Stop the shit out of something.

By the same token, it is always interesting to watch the same people who are highschool bullies, turn into power drunk adults and manage to create the same havoc as in highschool.

The taunts are just as childish and sometimes get published in the local paper, immortalizing the ridiculous behavior. Making fun of last names seems like a Middle School move but never ceases to amaze me at how quickly people stoop to that level.

I have always been either married into or involved with government in some way. In all my thirty plus years, the childishness still surprises me.

Entitlement spans all cultures, all economic backgrounds, all religions, sexes, races, and ages. Entitlement to power, money, or status. Red tape is usually born out of situations that aim to hamper this entitlement. However, it rarely works exactly as intended, typically serving as a reminder that only rule followers get punished.

There is no perfect system. More and more, I appreciate integrity when I see it. True integrity. The people who could break the rules but do not.
