Be The Match

As a caregiver for a woman with stage IV cancer, I watched how absolutely horrible cancer destroys the human body. The chemo and radiation treatments are equally as awful.

She is no longer a candidate for treatment of any kind as the cancer has advanced. She went to Atlanta, GA to enroll in a clinical study for an alternative cancer treatment. This alternative treatment requires a bone marrow transplant. I didn’t know the first thing about becoming a donor and never really had a motivation to look into it until now.

Turns out, you can go to and sign up. They send you a kit of two cheek swabs, return envelope provided, and viola! You are tested for viability and added to a registry.

I may not be a match for my friend, but maybe I can be a match for someone else. #bethematch
